Manasalu

Manaslu Region is an amazing trekking region in Nepal for trekkers seeking true adventure, breathtaking mountain views and ancient Tibetan culture. One of the less commercialize trekking regions of Nepal, this region was formally opened and made available for trekkers in 1992. Manaslu region consist of high mountains, glaciers, lakes, numerous waterfall and wide variety of flora and fauna. Annapurna lies on the southwest part separated by the Marsyangdi River; Ganesh Himal, Shringi/Serang Himal and Kutang Himal lies on the eastern side separated by the Budi Gandaki River and Langtang Himal lies on the east. Elevation wise, the area ranges from 1400 m all the way upto the summit of Mt. Manasalu, 8163 m. The world’s 8th highest peak, Mt. Manaslu (8163 m), also known as Mansiri Himal, lies in this region which is surrounded by high walls of snow-capped and rocky mountain. In Sanskrit, Manaslu means “The Mountain of Spirit” which refers to the kind yet very powerful god. Some of the well known peaks in the Manasalu region are Mt. Manasalu, North, Ngadi Chuli, Himal Chuli, Naike Chuli and Boudha Himal. The first ascent of Manaslu was done by Japanese expedition team in 1956. Manasalu Region is protected and conserved by the Manasalu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) covering 1663 km2 in the Gorkha District. MCAP was established in 1998 and claimed as a restricted area. Trekkers need special permits from the government to enter the Manasalu region. The amazing Manasalu Circuit Trek lies in this region which takes you around the world’s 8th highest peak, Mt. Manasalu, via Larke LA, offering amazing mountain views, isolated villages and unique culture of the Himalayas. Another amazing trek in this region is Tsum Valley trek, which takes you to the ancient and isolated valley of ancient Tibetan villages. The trek is still rural and gives a chance to have a closer look in the ancient Buddhist culture, beliefs, old monasteries and the valley has pure energy all around it. It is an amazing trek to glance how the Himalayan lifestyle used to be in the past.
